I met Dr. Pierro in the workplace. I would also like to add that his “fame” preceded him, his fame was acquired from long hard work “in the field”.

He was recommended to us to help in a complex case of a minor substance abuser with a chaotic family situation, and without formal education references.

In fact our expectations were met. Alfonso Pierro was able to interact with both parties, the adolescent, and the adults with remarkable familiarity and effectiveness. His observations and educational therapy of adolescent minors and their families within the context of their daily life has provided us with other handles for this family involved in a complexity of pathological addictions and /or psychiatric illnesses. He demonstrated that he has an excellent ability to work in a team and knows how to interface with different public and private services. His personality is fundamental in helping him with his work, he is serious, and always available which makes him a complete professional.

Alfonso was a ray of sunshine in our lives. A kind man, a professional in his field, he welcomed us, understood, accompanied and guided us through the difficult road we had to undertake. I say difficult because Alfonso without judgement made me face my mistakes and my shortcomings and removed a veil from my eyes of preconceptions and stereotypes with which I grew up.

You cannot work with him if you are not ready to bare yourself and look deeply inside yourself, without accepting that what we are is still to be discovered, and for many is often not what we think.

Alfonso followed O. and me, O. was like all children receptive and collaborative. I think the most difficult part of his work is to crumble the shell of the parents and draw out the children that we were.

It didn't just help me improve my relationship with my son, Alfonso did much more, he made me understand that life should be something more and different from what I was experiencing.

He is like Mary Poppins, he stays even though you don't want him to, he stays until your ego doesn't resist change, and leaves you when you no longer need him. He leaves when you would like him to stay but for him you are able to move forward alone.

You have to listen to him carefully and take advantage of all his advice because his advice is like precious pearls.

I would take every single step with him again and maybe a few more!
